Vocabulary Exercises: Prefixes

We live in a time
when the words impossible
and unsolvable
are no longer a part of the
scientific community's vocabulary.

Prefixes

As you go through this exercise,
note that a word's root or stem is its foundation,
and new meanings or variations are created
when prefixes or suffixes are added.

For example, scrib(e) is Latin for write;

scribble = meaningless writing
describe = to tell or depict in writing
inscribe = to mark with words or characters
prescribe = to designate remedies, treatment
prescription = to direct what and how a medicine is taken, or the medicine itself
